What Does Natural Living Actually Look Like?

Updated: 6 days ago

I used to think natural living had to look a certain way. Glass jars lined up neatly in the pantry. A perfectly organised kitchen. A garden overflowing with vegetables. Homemade everything.

And somehow, enough time to make it all happen.

It looked beautiful. It also felt a little impossible. Because real life doesn't always look like that.

There are busy mornings. There are butter pasta dinners. There are days when the washing seems to multiply overnight. There are children who need you, work that needs doing and a list that never quite seems to end.

So what does natural living actually look like?

Perhaps it isn't about getting everything right. Perhaps it's about becoming a little more intentional about the things we can choose. For us, it started with some fairly simple questions.

What are we eating?

What are we putting on our skin?

What are we bringing into our home?

Who made the things we're buying?

And do these choices actually serve the kind of home and family we want to build?

Those questions don't have to lead to a complete lifestyle overhaul. Sometimes they lead to something as simple as choosing a nourishing tallow moisturiser instead of a product filled with ingredients we don't recognise. Sometimes it's buying fresh food from a local farmer. Sometimes it's choosing a handmade wooden board that can be used for years instead of something made to be replaced next season. Sometimes it's making a cup of herbal tea instead of reaching for another sugary drink. And sometimes, natural living looks like doing absolutely none of those things.

Because life isn't about perfection.

It's about direction.

I think that's something we can easily forget. We can become so focused on doing everything "right" that natural living starts to feel like another list of rules. But that's never what we wanted it to be. Natural living, to us, is really about returning to some of the things that are wonderfully simple.

Eating foods that nourish us.

Spending time outdoors.

Getting to know where our products come from.

Choosing natural ingredients where we can.

Supporting small businesses and the families behind them.

Making time for rest.

Gathering around a table.

Paying attention to what we're putting into our homes and onto our bodies.

None of this requires a perfect pantry or a picture-perfect home. It simply requires us to start noticing. And perhaps that is where change begins. When we start reading the ingredients on the label. When we ask who made something. When we wonder whether we really need another product or whether what we already have is enough. When we choose quality over quantity. When we begin to realise that the things we bring into our homes become part of the way we live.

At Tuvia, this is what natural living means to us.

It's why we care about natural skincare and simple wellness.

It's why we love products made by small makers.

It's why we believe the things we use every day should be useful, beautiful and made with care.

But perhaps most importantly, it's why we believe natural living should make life feel more life-giving, not more complicated.

There is no finish line. No perfectly natural home. No family that gets everything right. Just small choices, made over time. A little more thought. A little less excess. A little more gratitude for what Yah has already given us.

And perhaps that is what natural living really looks like.

Not perfection.

Just choosing, where we can, to live a little closer to what matters.

A Question to Reflect On...

If you could make just one small change towards a more natural way of living this week, what would it be?
